LED or halogen: which bulb for a blown glass chandelier?

Our chandeliers are designed for LED bulbs, but the question often arises: why not halogen? Here's the concrete difference.

The warmth of the light

Halogen emits a warm light quite similar to old incandescent bulbs, but it heats the bulb itself considerably—a real risk for a blown glass or hand-painted lampshade, which can weaken over time due to repeated heat exposure.

LED, gentler on glass

An LED bulb heats up much less and better preserves the colors and textures of our most delicate pieces, especially hand-painted glass like on Iride or Ottavia.

Consumption and lifespan

An LED consumes approximately 80% less than an equivalent halogen bulb and lasts several times longer—a real advantage for a chandelier with twelve or eighteen bulbs, where replacements can quickly add up.

Choosing the right LED color temperature

To recapture the warm ambiance of a halogen, choose an LED at 2700-3000K (warm white). A cooler tone (4000K and above) is better suited for a workspace than a living room or bedroom.
